What to do.....

If your child rips the page of a library book and then proceeds to EAT said ripped library page, do you have to actually tell the librarian and show them or can you just walk in with money and pay for the book so you don't have to get the "are you kidding me, are you really sad enough parents that you'll let your child eat library books??" look? (Even if you do deserve the look...)

No seriously, please tell me. I am so embarrassed and really want to know!!! And no, we will not be checking out anymore library books until she understands fully and clearly that books are NOT for eating!!!!

I would just go in and say the book was "lost" (which it is . . . in her tummy) and pay for the book.

Then again, I'm not sure if I'm the person you should take parenting advice from.

Tomy is a book worm, too. I can't decide if it's because he doesn't have enough fiber in his diet, or because he misunderstood the idea of feasting upon the word.

As for the library, I'm sure the librarians have encountered any number of two-year-old vs. book disasters. So just make whatever restitution you feel the most comfortable with.

PS Good luck with that cute bundle of blond-haired mischief. Sounds like you could definitely use it these days :) What a funny girl.

Check out EBay or Amazon and purchase a replacement book for far less than the library will charge you. Send Alex to the library with Zaylee and keep a safe distance behind them with a video camera. (Greg's remedy is...drop it in the over night box and be done.)

HAHA! That is funny Nicole. But I really wouldn't be too concerned about it. If the librarian does give you a look like that then they are just a grouchy old lady (or man). I am sure if you are willing to pay for the book they will be fine...and if they value children reading they wouldn't want you to stop checking out books! But this is just coming from a mom with four kids who have definitly had their share of public mishaps. :)
